I Dream of Katy
There are few fashion mavens that consistently get it right as often as Katy Perry. From head to toe, Ms. Perry is always spot on - put together, though often unexpectedly; somehow, it just works.
As of recent, the "Chained to the Rhythm" singer has stepped up her makeup game with the launch of COVERGIRL's Katy Kat collection. Though many of her most anticipated products have yet to be launched, it's safe to say this collaboration could just be the boost that CG has been needing to fight off the ever increasing competition of cosmetic companies and product numbers in general. #KATYxCOVERGIRL
No matter edgy or classy, funky or elegant, Katy always hits it out of the park, especially when it comes to her makeup styling. Here are a few of my favorite recent KP looks, broken down so you can replicate them at home:
2017 GRAMMYs
To achieve this look, you'll need a fab highlighter, dewy/radiant finish foundation, and some great lashes. The best part of this look? She used some of her ultra-affordable COVERGIRL Katy Kat Collection to get that perfect shine needed for the GRAMMYs carpet.
Katy Kat Pearl cream eyeshadow in Tiger Rose ($7) for lid color and cheekbone highlight
COVERGIRL OutLast All-Day Concealer ($7) for a bright, long-lasting underrated cover that will last all day (and night!)
Katy Kat Matte in Crimson Cat and Reddy to Pounce ($7) for a gorgeous warm lip with added pearl sheen to complete this bronzed-goddess look
Delilah Hair Mink Strip Lashes in The Posh ($20) - they're pricey, but high quality and reusable. Plus they're mink - soft and fluffy... once you go mink, you'll never go synthetic again. Just trust me on this one ;) WOULD YOU JUST LOOK AT THESE BABIES??! #obsessed
Now... for that hair.. perfectly tosseled, teased and texturized for that lived-in, messy look that perfectly compliments her red carpet glow. The holy grail cocktail of hair products:
Kenra Dry Texture Spray ($22)
R+Co. dry shampoo paste ($28)
Bumble and Bumble cityswept finish ($31)
So they're pricey, but will last a while - just a little spritz (or dab!) at a time, slowly building to achieve your desired fullness. Dry your hair upside down after applying your favorite texturizing/volumizing mousse. Use the Kenra Dry Texture Spray in short bursts throughout the hair, focusing on roots. A wand or curling iron - taking care of leaving the ends out - bending the midshafts in rotating directions. After cooling, break apart the curls with the R+Co. dry shampoo paste "scrunching" and raking your fingers throughout. Finish with the Bumble and Bumble cityswept finish spray for added texture and flexible hold... and voila!

Sleek and sophisticated was KP's theme for the night, where she was honored by Hillary Clinton for her efforts supporting Unicef. Katy stunned in this gorgeous Marchesa gown & completed her look with brushed waves and classic makeup.

Last, but certainly not least, highlighter is the perfect addition to make your features really pop! Makeup Revolution Blushing Hearts Highlighter ($7, Ulta) is a wallet-friendly option in today's strobing crazed world. Use on cheekbones, brow bones and Cupid's bow. For extra shine, apply to collarbones and shoulders.
For these beautiful, loose waves, start with a 1 1/2 - 2" barrel curling iron - focusing on the midshafts and ends. After the curls have cooled, brush all of your hair backwards running your brush fully through the curls, add a little tease on the top and above the nape.
